John Bonow has served as PFM’s chief executive officer since 2012. In this capacity, he sets the organization’s strategic direction and is responsible for its overall daily management. He also chairs the PFM Executive Committee, which is the firm’s primary policy-making body, and serves on PFM’s Board of Managers.

After joining PFM in 1991 as a financial analyst, John was promoted throughout all professional levels of the firm before being named a managing director in 2001. He credits his professional success to the PFM colleagues who are also so dedicated to serving the firm’s clients well.  John spent his first 11 years with PFM in the San Francisco office, expanding PFM’s West Coast financial advisory business. In 2002, he opened PFM’s Seattle office to better serve clients in the Pacific Northwest, and grew that business to one of PFM’s most profitable geographic presences. He has helped clients raise billions of dollars for important capital projects and refinance or restructure prior debt obligations along with developing sustainable finances and strong credit profiles.

In pursuit of his other passions, John serves on the Board of Directors of the Children’s Literacy Initiative and spends much of his leisure time pursuing health and joy with his family.
