PFM Adds Two Executives to Healthcare Practice

PFM announced today the addition of two highly skilled executives to its healthcare industry practice. PFM is pleased to welcome Pierre Bogacz, Director in Orlando, and Brian Carter, Director in Philadelphia. These professionals will further strengthen the team’s position as one of the nation’s leading advisors to healthcare organizations.

"PFM has had a long-standing presence as one of the leading advisors on strategic healthcare finance for nonprofit healthcare systems,” commented PFM CEO John Bonow. “Over the past 25 years, and especially in the past few years, our professionals have been involved in all aspects of healthcare financial strategy development – researching and evaluating alternatives, improving financial flexibility and resilience, developing policies and implementing strategies to benefit our clients," he said.

“Our healthcare clients have been in the center of the national healthcare industry and insurance reform process for over a decade now, and today’s consolidation in the healthcare market is, in part, a reflection of the regulatory changes resulting from that process. The addition of these two professionals will strengthen our ability to assist our clients as they navigate this market,” noted Christine Doyle, a PFM Managing Director and co-head of the healthcare practice.

With almost 30 years of healthcare experience, Pierre Bogacz comes to PFM from HFA Partners, LLC, in Tampa where he worked with a wide range of nonprofit healthcare clients from standalone providers to multistate hospital systems. Pierre’s expertise includes capital formation and debt management, bond underwriting, bank debt, interest rate swaps, lease financing, business valuation, joint ventures and alliances, feasibility studies, debt capacity analyses and sell-side merger and acquisition and due diligence. Additionally, Pierre has authored more than 150 articles and white papers, which have appeared in Healthcare Financial Management Association’s Strategic Financial Planning, Modern Healthcare and The Bond Buyer.

“I’m delighted to be a part of the PFM healthcare practice and helping a growing number of providers put the firm’s expertise to work in meeting their financial and strategic objectives,” Pierre said.

Brian Carter is a 19-year industry veteran focusing on acute care health systems, community hospitals, senior living facilities, human service providers and nonprofit organizations. His extensive experience includes advising on corporate strategy and capital structure, managing commercial banking relationships and execution in the bond and derivative markets.

Brian began his career at PFM from 1999 to 2004, serving as a financial advisor and then a derivatives advisor, monitoring clients’ swap portfolio market value positions and tracking “effectiveness testing” for Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) 133 compliance and reporting. During his career Brian has served his clients as a banker or financial advisor on more than $13 billion in financings.

Regarding his return to PFM, Brian said, “I am excited for the opportunity to bring PFM’s industry-leading resources to bear in helping our clients achieve their strategic goals.”

CEO John Bonow added, "This expanded healthcare team adds significant experience ranging from advising acute care providers to performing asset valuations. As trusted, independent financial advisors, we always strive to help our clients make the right decision for their specific circumstances and then provide the right resources for successful implementation."
