Stephen is a Senior Managing Consultant on PFM’s Healthcare and Higher Education team. His time is spent advising non-profit clients on capital planning, risk management, and transaction execution. He specializes in credit analysis, capital structuring, and accessing the capital markets. Additional responsibilities at PFM include instructing new analysts on reading and analyzing financial statements, being a member of PFM’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, as well as formal and informal mentoring. Stephen has also facilitated and sat on healthcare industry panels for the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and the National Health and Higher Education Facilities Financing Authority.
Prior to joining PFM, Stephen worked at KPMG on the asset management audit team performing financial statement audits on mutual, hedge, and private equity funds. As part of that work, he developed a peer reviewed audit approach for select derivative contracts including forwards, futures, options, and various swap instruments. In addition, he completed audits for colleges and universities as well as 401(k) and 403(b) plans. Lastly, he also served as a national instructor for new hires and a data and analytics specialist.
Stephen holds a Master’s in Science of Accounting and Business Administration from the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University. He graduated from Stonehill College earning a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics.
He is a CFA charterholder since 2016 and acquired his CPA license in 2012, which has since lapsed. He spends his free time hiking the White Mountains, playing mediocre golf, and coaching CrossFit.
